Day One is June 7, 2013
One creative act every day for 100 consecutive days
Quote from the 100 DAYS PROJECT
Michael Bierutne "One of my favorite artists, Chuck Close, once said, ‘Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work.’ I love the idea of getting to work as a way to unlock the creative impulse that exists in all of us. Committing to doing a creative act every day for 100 consecutive days is an intimidating challenge. But it’s a way to force yourself to simply show up. And to quote another great artist, Woody Allen, ‘Eighty percent of success is showing up.’ And why not give yourself an eighty percent head start? I applaud Emma Rogan for taking my simple exercise and making it a movement. More power to her!”
new beginnings
It's about a new art project: WATER. The 100 Days Project will give me the discipline to focus on my daily creative practice. As a starting point here is a poem written by one of my favourite New Zealand poets. Same as last years project; My Daily Fix, I will be travelling which means simplicity of materials is essential.
Rain
I can hear you
making small holes
in the silence
rain
If I were deaf
the pores of my skin
would open to you
and shut
And I
should know you
by the lick of you
if I were blind
the something
special smell of you
when the sun cakes
the ground
the steady
drum-roll sound
you make
when the wind drops
But if I
should not hear
smell or feel or see
you
you would still
define me
disperse me
wash over me
rain
