Day 24: you surround me

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters.”
― Norman Maclean, A River Runs Through It and Other Stories

Day 23: you soften me

still inside, inside the quiet place

Day 22: you nourish me

“Water is life's mater and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.”
Albert Szent-Gyorgyi (Hungarian Biochemist, 1937 Nobel Prize for Medicine, 1893-1986)

Day 21: you challenge me

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
Jacques Yves Cousteau

Day 20: you push me

Our journey starts in water, nurtured in our mother’s womb

Circulatory drawing #3, pencil on paper

BBQ at Villa in Ibiza, Spain...fun times with water (can't take credit for these photos, but I had to share).

Day 19: you tire me

“The ocean was the best place, of course. That was what she loved most. It was a feeling of freedom like no other, and yet a feeling of communion with all the other places and creatures the water touched.”
― Ann Brashares

Day 18: you refresh me

what more can I say....

Party central  in Cala Carbo.

Day 17: you heal me

“Always be like water. Float in the times of pain or dance like waves along the wind which touches its surface.”
― Santosh Kalwar

Cala Carbo Beach, Ibiza, Spain

Day 16: you amaze me

“Human nature is like water. It takes the shape of its container.”
― Wallace Stevens

Day 15: you remember me

Meet me where the waves touch the sky
[a beach just south of Barcelona, Spain]

A swim then funk music with pizza and beer till dusk

Day 14: you excite me

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.”
― Margaret Atwood, ‘The Penelopiad’

Day 13: you possess me

When I'm in water, I'm not in this world

Day 12: you calm me

But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Khalil Gibran

Day 11: you swirl me

circulatory drawing #2

“The sea has never been friendly to man. At most it has been the accomplice of human restlessness.”
― Joseph Conrad

Day 10: you balance me

“Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.”
― Brian Jacques, Taggerung

In moments of great happiness I always think of my dad, I still miss him.

Day 9: you ruffle me

the flow is continuous: the invisible and the visible

Day 8: you free me

circulatory drawing #1

Water is not the easiest of subjects to express with a pencil on paper, though a focus on the motion of water is the key. Water is essentially the element of circulatory systems. It is pulled down towards oceans with gravity, but it does so as a spherical form. And this is what my pencil wants to draw.

Day 7: you cool me

We lose ourselves in the things we love.
We find ourselves there, too.

Day 6: you fascinate me

All the water that will ever be is right now.
National Geographic, October 1993

Day 4: you inspire me

Photograph taken with iPhone of Aalto pool (which is where I swim)

"You have a perception of the way things are, and you impose it on your memory, and in this way you think, in the same way that I think, that you are living something that is describable. When of course, what we actually live, what we actually experience—with our senses and our nerves—is a vast, absurd, beautiful, ridiculous chaos."
— Keith Ridgway on writing novels and everything as fiction:

Day 3: you delight me

pond that surrounds the Art Science Museum, Singapore

“As our bodies are mostly made of water, I’d rather be hungry than thirsty. And as love is mostly made up of sugar water, I’d rather be a hummingbird caged in your heart. ”
― Jarod Kintz, The Titanic would never have sunk if it were made out of a sink.

Day 2: you move me

Life, like a river, has a perennial flow. as such, it needs careful attention to keep the flow under control.
- B.K.S. Iyengar
